Polarity and
Power
The Polarity Grid is constructed on two axes, the
vertical 'Y' axis measuring Polarity,
the horizontal 'X' axis
measuring the Power of expression of that polarity.
Polarity is an assessment of the extent to which the
positive or the negative prevails at any given moment.
Position on the Grid denotes a particular combination of
the two variables, polarity and power.

Duality
Human beings see themselves as separate from each other. We
also see ourselves as separate from the physical world. We
perceive things as different from each other and we compare
and contrast them: right and wrong, clever and stupid, big
and small, ugly and beautiful. We also see ourselves as
being in the world and separate from other species, even
from other races and nationalities. We experience this
world from our own individual standpoint and we describe
the world in inclusive and non-inclusive terms – me
and you, us and them. This is Duality.
·
Polarity
Comparing and contrasting ourselves with others we perceive
the dualities as more or less desirable. We perceive
hierarchy. According to our evaluation we create and
project desires into the future and seek to attain them; we
seek to become something more or better, something
different from what we imagine ourselves to be. We seek the
positive. We also seek to avoid the negative.
·
Power
We have a sense of personal power. Not only do we have
knowledge and physical capacity, we also have energy,
commitment, dedication which we can somehow focus and apply
in life to attain our desires. We might have social
connections and persuasive powers. We feel that we have
will power. We seek to use our power.
